"Femund Race 2025, checkpoint Flendalen"

Vidsyn, Flendalen

On Wednesday, February 12th, the dog sledders in the F-650 class will arrive at Checkpoint Flendalen, Vidsyn!

The Femund Race 2025 is the World Championship in long-distance dog sledding, and the French Championship in long-distance dog sledding (Championnat de France Longue Distance) will also be held at the Femund Race in 2025.

For the fourth consecutive year, UL Flendølen and the mountain village of Flendalen are organizing a checkpoint for the Femund Race, the world's largest dog race by number of participants. Around 40 dog teams are expected at the checkpoint, including some of the best dog mushers in the world.

The checkpoint is organized with a café inside Vidsyn, where you can sit down, warm up, and enjoy good food and drinks. In addition, there is a large outdoor area with fire pits, stalls, grill food, and activities for both adults and children. And not least; DOG TEAMS!

The café in Vidsyn will be open 24/7 during the event, as long as there are dog teams at the checkpoint.

The outdoor area will be open on Wednesday, February 12th. The racers will take an obligatory 8-hour rest, either in Flendalen or at Drevsjø. It is expected that most of the dog mushers will choose to take their rest at the Flendalen checkpoint before heading northward to Røros again. This means there will be plenty of opportunities to observe dog teams all day!

We hope many will visit Flendalen this Friday to cheer on those arriving at our checkpoint. This is a unique opportunity to experience some of the very best dog mushers and their dogs in action, set against a magical winter landscape. We have set up a spectator-friendly checkpoint:

Large parking area and spectator area
Speaker service and results service
Food service both indoors and outdoors
Children’s camp with activities both inside and outside (NEW!)
Fire pits and seating areas
Stalls selling local crafts
