Many of the eateries in Trysil are proud supporters of local ingredients and offer good flavors from the inland forest's pantry. Game meat such as moose, deer and reindeer, fish from the sea and rivers and tasty berries. All this, and more, enhances the dining experience and holiday feeling.
"King of the Forest" on many menus
Trysil is one of the country's foremost "moose municipalities", and moose hunting has long been an important tradition and industry. For many Tryslings, moose are a natural part of the dinner table. For many visitors, moose meat is rare and eating a delicious dish with moose meat is truly a genuine trysil taste, a delicacy.
Trysil has made the moose part of its culinary identity, and in eateries around the municipality you will find dishes based on moose meat. Putting moose meat, and other local ingredients, on the menu is a tribute to the region's natural resources and traditions.
