From Alta to Trysil on summer holiday

The Brundtland family from Alta finds their summer paradise in beautiful Trysil, where bike paths and camping create memories for life! Summer time in Trysil creates an active adventure for everyone, from small to large.

The car is packed with clothes and equipment for a four-week holiday in Norway. Six mountain bikes are stacked on the back of the car and inside the caravan. Marthe and Klaus Brundtland with their children Oskar (16 years), Ella (11 years), Johanne (14 years) and Sigve (6 years) from Alta are ready for this year's summer holiday with a steady course south.

It will be the start of a summer adventure filled with activities, laughter and memories that will last a lifetime. With 1727 kilometers ahead of it, Trysil is a long-awaited destination on the family's itinerary.

A wide and varied offer

Trysil is not just a random destination. With a love for cycling, the Brundtland family has found their place of happiness among Trysil's cycle paths.

"Trysil in the summer is suitable for everyone," says Marthe with a smile. They have a wide and varied offer, and we would have liked to have had more time here to cover everything we can do.

In the back seat of the car, the conversation is loose between the children. The eldest of the gang has noticed that Trysil has built several lift-based bike paths since the last time, and he is looking forward to testing these. Ella remembers Gullia best. Sigve is looking forward to riding on the pump track and wonders if it will be more difficult now with a bigger bike.

"It was great to see that everyone in our family found bike paths that suited us. We adults also had fun," says Marthe.

Good training for the most experienced

Marthe and Klaus are by no means beginners on the mountain bike. Both have participated several times in Offroad Finnmark, perhaps Norway's toughest mountain bike race.

"The cycling in Trysil may not have been a warm-up at this year's Offroad Finnmark, but I got to practice my technique a bit, which can come in handy on the 300 kilometers across the plateau," laughs Marthe.

Back to Trysil. The Brundtland family has found their summery oasis at Trysilelva camping, which has proven to be the ideal centerpiece for their excursions.

"The campsite is absolutely perfect for us. We have everything we need here, with a beautiful view of the mountains and the river very close," says Marthe. The kids are very happy. The campsite even has some cycling elements that we can play with.

It was also time for an adult tour of the lively Finnmarkings.

"To get in a slightly longer training trip, Klaus and I cycled from the campsite and up around Fjellrunden," says Marthe. There was fog up in the mountains, but when we got up it cleared completely. So we got a nice round around the mountain with fantastic views. A great evening session.

"We will definitely return to Trysil. There is still a lot we haven't tried. And next time we may have to stay even longer, because none of the children wanted to leave Trysil, Marthe concludes.
