Mikkjel Fønhus – Norway’s First Environmentalist

Mikkjel Fønhus was one of Norway's most productive writers from 1917 until his death in 1973. Nature and wildlife were his main sources of inspiration. He wrote over 70 novels and was an active participant in public debates. Many have called him Norway’s first environmentalist. His efforts to protect areas like Femundsmarka, Hardangervidda, and Vassfaret were eventually successful. He was also a strong advocate for the protection of our predators. Mikkjel was ahead of his time and, in many ways, regarded as a conservative figure during his era.
The lecture is titled "Mikkjel Fønhus – His Life and Work," with a focus on his conservation efforts.

The speaker is Arne Erik Fønhus, leader of the Mikkjel Fønhus Association.
