Trysil IL - the world's oldest ski club

Trysil IL, formerly IL Trysilgutten, was founded on 20 May 1861 as Trysil Skytte- og Skiløberforening, and is the world's oldest ski club. In the 1870s, the shooters withdrew from the club and founded Trysilfjeld Skytterlag. The remaining sports club then changed its name to Trysil Ski Club.

But new sports were added and in 1890 there was a new name change to Trysil Idrætsforening, and in 1912 the name became Trysil Gymnastics and Sports Club after gymnastics was also included in the sports club. The name Trysilgutten came about in 1940. This was later changed to Trysil sports club at the annual meeting in 2021.

Over the years, many sports have come and gone, including gymnastics, orienteering, tennis and football.

The club has also been the organizer of many sports events. The NM in 1955 is still being rumored. The exercises were 50 km and relay and Crown Prince Olav attended the event.

In 1997, the sports team was the organizer of the Norwegian Championship and World Cup Telemark.  In connection with the 150th anniversary, we organized the Norwegian Championships in slalom and giant slalom, and the alpine group has for several years organized alpine FIS and European Cup races. In March 2023, Trysil sports team arranged the Norwegian Championships in alpine disciplines in addition to the Norwegian Championships in freeskiing.

Trysil IL has a proud history and many active athletes have distinguished themselves both nationally and internationally over the years. Among the club's most famous athletes of all time are Anita Moen Bonden, Per Bakken, Elling Rønes, Atle Enberget, Halvor Næs and Johan Sætre.
