"We launched the concept of the world's smallest après-ski in the middle of the 2024 season," says William Notkevich. Patrick Wigdel and I started Flyyt in 2020. We have always been looking for a concept to work with, something that suits us. We have known that we are a kind of grill bar, and knew we wanted to do pre-après-ski, but the concept hook itself was missing.

Last year, it fell into place. The Flyyt guys sat at Laaven and talked a bit, both about what is the world's biggest après-ski, the best and so on. It was Tommy Åsheim, general manager at Laaven, who came up with the phrase "Flyyt - the world's smallest après-ski". The next day, they ordered banners.

Cabin in the middle of the mountain with a terrace around it

Flyyt's house is a cabin in the mountains with two tables and a terrace around it. When there are 30 people inside, it's crowded. In addition, there are 100 patios. But only from week 7 is it pleasant to sit outside, when the sun comes to Fageråsen.

"The concept is what we are developing Flyyt around. That doesn't mean that everything is the smallest in the world with us. But it's cool to be able to say that this is our concept. We try to keep expectations down, until people come in the door. 90% are surprised when they come in, and we hear a lot of exclamations. "Oh, is there a table here! Oh, is that draft beer! Oh, is it food!"

Koia, as William calls the house in Fageråsen, has a draught beer system that the Flyyt guys have built themselves, there is a good selection of beverages, both non-alcoholic and stronger things, and they make their own glühwein. It's very popular! It's on display on the counter, and a delicious scent tempts the whole cabin when they take off the lid.

"We also sell food, and with us it's the quick alternative that applies. Bratwurst and chorizo sausage in bread and the popular toast. Good snow food with a good drink, says William.

Sharpening the concept

With the basic concept in place, the time has come to sharpen it. Make it even clearer. And that is what is being worked on.

"Atmosphere, atmosphere, après-ski. In our little cabin, we want it to be full. The more people who sit inside, the more pleasant it becomes, and our customers stay for a long time. The idea is that we will stay open until 7 pm every Friday and Saturday. Otherwise, it is open every day during the elevators' opening hours. You need a lift to get to us, but not home.

Music is an important part of the atmosphere and the good atmosphere. With volume that makes it possible to have a conversation, and it is not "stick for the country" all the time.

"When we have a DJ, we play typical après-ski music from time to time. But otherwise there is a lot of house, chill, good vibes. Of course, there is a bit of volume outside, which draws people to us, but inside the door you should be able to have a conversation.

Young drivers – customers of all ages

They are relatively young, William and Patrick, the guys behind Flyyt. 29 and 32. They are the same age as many who work in the mountains and are friends with many. Buddies are also customers. The customers in their entirety are from 18 to 60 years old. A number of regular customers, of course, and many Swedes and Danes. The customer group is large, and that's how they want it to be at the world's smallest après-ski.

"We feel we have gained a good foothold with Flyyt, and it feels good to have an exciting concept to lean on as we now continue to work on the concept. And that is logical; The world's smallest après-ski is something people get curious about, which makes people feel good. In this way, some small facsimile becomes quite large. And pre-après-ski used to be – now it's après-ski we're doing.

There is a good flow at Flyyt, smiles William Notkevich.
